About us

M.A.S.T.: Maritime Education and Sail Training for Young People is an international project part-funded by the EU South Baltic Programme. Its partners are:

MOSiR | THE GDAŃSK SPORT AND LEISURE CENTRE | POLAND






Initiator and leader of the project. MOSiR owns the historical sailing yacht General Zaruski, which is currently under restoration. It is expected that General Zaruski will be ready for the sailing season 2012, when, respective to her original purpose, she will be dedicated to sailing and educational activities for young people. Gdansk and Kalmar are partner cities, together with Klaipeda they want to enhance this cooperation through the M.A.S.T. programme.

JEDRZEJ SNIADECKI ACADEMY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT IN GDAŃSK | POLAND










The biggest sports university in Northern Poland is currently also involved many programmes dealing with education of children and teenagers. In M.A.S.T., besides their experince and methodological support, they will provide their sailing yacht Śniadecki, as well as the training base of the National Training Centre in Górki Zachodnie.

Contributes to the project with their experience in maritime education, and in particular with their great s/y Brabander. Klaipeda University will also work for establishing the Association for sailing and maritime education between the cities of Klaipeda, Gdansk and Kalmar.

SIMRISHAMN MUNICIPALITY | SWEDEN










Takes part in the project on behalf of the s/y Sarpen association of Simrishamn Scouts. Sarpen association owner of the s/y Sarpen has large experience in organizing low budget sail cruses for young people. By participating in the project Simrishamn will boost international youth exchange.

THE OFFICE OF CULTURE AND LEISURE AFFAIRS OF THE CITY KALMAR | SWEDEN









Provides facilities and organizes after school activates for young people of the Kalmar municipality through a network of 12 recreations centres and 3 meeting points where youth learn music, sport or art in a safe and inspiring environment, free from drugs. Their ambition is to extend activities with sailing and maritime education - at the moment the municipality neither owns a sailing boat or has permanent sailing instructors.

LOCAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION OF VORDINGBORG | DENMARK









Got interested with the M.A.S.T. project because of their current small-scale activities of summer sail courses for German and Danish youth. They will contribute to the project with their newly restored traditional yacht Røret. They will also make available facilities of their marina and training centre in Klintham Havn.
